Back from the UK – What Stood Out (in a Good Way!)
I’ve just returned from a trip around the UK. Even though we visit regularly, there are a few things that always catch my attention – little everyday details that I really appreciate as a German:
Friendly small talk – Whether you’re at the supermarket checkout or waiting for a coffee, people happily chat and share a smile.
Everyday politeness – Holding doors open, saying “sorry,” “please,” and “thank you” – it creates a really pleasant atmosphere.
Free public toilets – It might seem like a small thing, but when you’re travelling with kids or exploring all day, it makes a big difference.
Contactless payments everywhere – Even at small cafés or outdoor markets, paying by card is quick and easy.
Family-friendly spots – Many country parks combine historic estates with nature trails and adventure playgrounds. Great for all ages!
Life happens outdoors – Rain? No problem. Shorts at 12°C? Of course – it’s summer! The motto seems to be: “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.”
What about you?
Where have you travelled this year, and what stood out to you in a positive way?
And for those of you who’ve moved to Germany – what do you appreciate most about life here?
We’d love to hear your thoughts – feel free to send us an email!
